The Sanders

The Sanders are in my ward, and I actually visit teach Liz. They are some of the sweetest, nicest people I've ever met. They were featured on the news last week. This link will get you to a brief article, but I recommend watching the video on the right-hand side of the page. Pretty amazing stuff.

Fixed!!!!

The fridge is FIXED!!! Even though today was rainy and gloomy, and there was even some snow for a second, it was a great day. I now have my food out of Jami's fridge and back in my own. Yay! HUGE thanks to Jami. We're so glad you guys moved in next door!

So, how many flukes can one fridge have? 2 years ago the compressor went out, and when it finally got replaced the guy didn't solder (weld? whatever) it properly. Another guy came out to fix it, but he also didn't solder it properly. The last guy finally got it right. This time the motherboard went out, which apparently is pretty rare. I had the lead Salt Lake GE technician, and he almost didn't catch it because it was such a strange problem. (He seemed irritated that the guy last week didn't diagnose my fridge properly). I didn't have to pay for the repair (or even the parts!), and now I'm very happy!! I can put all the coolers away! I finally went to Costco today and bought stuff like cheese and milk, because now I can put it away where it belongs! What a great day.

Deals

As part of my food blog, I'm going to start posting Good Sales for the week. If you're in Utah, this is helpful to compare the major grocery stores' sales. I love this. My sister emails it to me every week, and I use it to decide what to buy and where. When I shop, I have to get a deal or I don't buy it. I can't pay full price for something unless I know it never goes on sale, or I have to have it right then. But most everything goes on sale, and then I stock up. I'm embarrassed at how much butter I have in Jami's fridge (and freezer), and it wasn't all of it either (sorry Jami, but thanks!). Freezer guy's coming tomorrow though, so hopefully I'll be able to put my food back in my own fridge, and stop living out of coolers!

Happy

Yesterday I ran to Albertson's, and as I was dumping jars of baby food into the cart, Will started smiling at a lady that was stocking shelves. She said, "Your kids are so happy, you can always tell when a mom stays home with her kids. ...Do you stay home with them?" [Yes] "Yeah, you can tell, the kids are just happier when their mom is home with them. If I had ever been able to have kids, that's what I would have done."

Wow.

We chatted for a minute, and I left feeling pretty good. And very blessed.

Actual Fun

Today I embroidered for 7 or 8 hours. I'm almost done. I had 3 boxes of shirts and aprons (hate aprons) to do, and I only have 10 names left (with 2 aprons each). It's now midnight, but I need to unwind a little after a very non-relaxing day filled with work and fridge stress. The boys were pretty good though, and we went on a walk this evening in the gorgeous weather. We saw the Fishers too, so we stopped to talk for a little while.

The other day Sam found his chore chart sitting on the counter, so he took it to the couch to look at it. I heard him saying, "My jobs are: be nice to Will, watch Thomas, play with trains, drink juice." Later that day he asked me for some "cattle corn." I tried to get him to say kettle, but he refused. Cattle corn it is.

Last night to celebrate our 6th anniversary (yay for us!), we dropped the boys off with Grandma and went to Red Robin. Mike really wanted a burger, and it was by the Sports Authority (Mike also needed new shoes for work). Our server, Jack Daniel, asked us if we'd ever been there. The last time for me was nearly 10 years ago (I feel SO old saying that). When Mike left to use the restroom our server came over and asked if I had been in about 6 months ago, because he could have sworn I was there. I don't know if that should creep me out or not, but I just said no, I get that all the time. I used to get that all the time, but mostly when I was single. So, do I really have a long lost twin, or are people just weird?

Anyhow, it's been a great 6 years! And I can't wait until May is over so I can see Mike for more than 45 minutes after work before bed.

More Fun

Fridge is out too.

I now have 3 coolers filled with as much food as I could stuff in them (and 20 lbs of ice). My poor neighbors. They'll be getting a call early tomorrow as I look for another home for more of our food. Huge thanks to Jami and Katie! What would I do without you guys?

Update II

Current freezer temp: 39 degrees

I called customer service again, but this time I got a supervisor (why didn't I just do that in the first place?). She set up another appointment for the freezer...at no charge this time! Based on the number of past service calls, she said I wouldn't have to pay for the next one. She also quoted me a price for a replacement unit (with a prorated discount, since it's not under warranty), but it's more than we paid originally. I asked if there was anything she could do about refunding my money from yesterday (since he didn't even fix it), and she gave me back the $65 for the trip charge. Ha ha! Feels good.
